Macgregor 19 Power Sailboat in Phoenix, AZ

Macgregor 19 Power Sailboat

The Mac 19 is a water ballast, planing hull sailboat with a 50 hp outboard with trim and tilt, capable of moving it at over 20 mph and even pulling a water skier, wakeboarder, etc. It sails reasonably well, but when the wind is uncooperative, it's great for cruising up the scenic Salt River from Saguaro Lake or Canyon Lake. Roosevelt, Powell, several lakes around Prescott, etc. in AZ are possible, along with Lake Pleasant, which is very active but usually crowded. It's also a popular visitor to Rocky Point or even the West Coast and easy to haul behind most vehicles. This boat has several improvements over the standard model. Kick up rudders, bimini top, easy access valve for ballast tank, motor & rudders tied together for easier steering, 2 spare tires mounted on trailer, front deck access hatch/window, heavy duty jib winches, side hand grip rails, electric trim & tilt on motor, dual bilge pumps with bilge drain plugs, Gin pole and short side stays added for one person mast raising, dual 6 gallon gas tanks hooked in a T for easy fueling, etc. It's no longer made, having been replaced by a 26' version which has more internal space but is harder to tow, store and pay for, since it's twice as expensive and much heavier.Besides having an enclosed head(toilet), a small galley, it easily sleeps four + in comfort. The mast Gin Pole and extra side stays make it easy for one person to launch and sail the boat alone. I've also made a number of improvements to the basic boat, most of them listed above plus replacing the tiller steer motor with one that has a remote throttle/shifter making it much easier to use. It is currently registered until 9/14. We recently returned from cruising Lake Roosevelt, about a 40 mile round trip and everything worked fine. A similar boat with only a 30 hp motor recently sold at Lake Pleasant for $8995! I'm located in Northeast Mesa near Power & McKilleps If you need more info about the boat, check several YouTube videos. I also started a Yahoo group for the Mac 19 which has over 300 members, lots of photos, files, etc. You can join for free or just peruse the web site at:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/macgregor19sailboats/One of several web sites with specifications, photos, etc. is:http://www.dougpile.com/mac19/Call me if you're interested. You can also reply to the email with info about yourself, questions, etc. I don't get around to answering texts very often. [removed phone]FOUR thanks, Mike
